EDMONTON (October 17, 2014) – C-FER Technologies is leasing a new $14 million research and testing facility to further enhance Alberta’s leadership in advancing technologies that increase safety and improve efficiency in support of responsible resource development.

C-FER’s new facility features:

  • A full-scale underground leak simulator for liquid pipelines
  • One of the world’s largest deep water pressure vessel
  • A first of its kind indoor tailings testing facility
  • An ultra-high load testing system...

Francisco Alhanati, Managing Director

Francisco spent most of his thirty-two-year career in the industry on applied R&D related to production operations, with Petrobras, in Brazil, between 1983 and 1996, and with C-FER, in Canada, since 1997.

Francisco received the 2013 SPE Production and Operations international award, for his distinguished contributions to petroleum engineering along his career.  He is considered an industry expert in the area of artificial lift, and he has extensive technical knowledge of offshore production...

C-FER, originally named the Centre for Frontier Engineering Research Institute, was incorporated on November 7, 1983 as a research consortium of industry, academic and professional organizations, and opened its doors for business on April 1, 1984. Its initial funding was a $5M grant from the Devonian Foundation of Calgary. Its mandate was to tackle problems related to structures required for Arctic and offshore energy development in Canada.
