C-FER hosts PCP Thermal Workshop

A forum where experience and knowledge related to the installation and operation of all-metal PCP systems in thermal applications could be openly exchanged

On March 30th, C-FER Technologies hosted a PCP Thermal Workshop in Calgary, Alberta on behalf of the PCP Run-Life Improvement Joint Industry Project. The objective of the PCP Thermal Workshop was to provide a forum where experience and knowledge related to the installation and operation of all-metal PCP systems in thermal applications could be openly exchanged among attendees.

Minister Fawcett tours the C-FER Technologies research laboratory

EDMONTON (March 13, 2015) – Kyle Fawcett (Minister of Environment and Sustainable Resource Development) and Don Scott (Minister of Innovation and Advanced Education) were at C-FER on Friday to announce the Alberta’s plan for reducing the amount of tailings that accumulate during oil sands mine operation. The announcement also included a water management framework that aims to reduce the amount of water withdrawn from the Athabasca River for oil sands operations.

Expanding and enhancing C-FER’s capabilities to qualify and de-risk technologies

EDMONTON (October 17, 2014) – C-FER Technologies is leasing a new $14 million research and testing facility to further enhance Alberta’s leadership in advancing technologies that increase safety and improve efficiency in support of responsible resource development.

C-FER’s new facility features:

  • A full-scale underground leak simulator for liquid pipelines
  • One of the world’s largest deep water pressure vessel
  • A first of its kind indoor tailings testing facility
  • An ultra-high load testing system for pipelines

C-FER hosts delegation from CNPC Tubular Goods Research Institute

C-FER was pleased to host a Chinese delegation from the CNPC Tubular Goods Research Institute (TGRI), including TGRI president, Mr. Zhang Guanjun. The delegation met at C-FER’s facilities to review on-going projects and new opportunities for research collaborations. Following the meeting, members of the delegation witnessed full-scale tests of pipeline specimens as part of a current project with TGRI.

Leading the development of risk and reliability methods for pipelines.

On June 20, 2013, C-FER Technologies’ Dr. Maher Nessim was inducted as a Fellow into The Canadian Academy of Engineering. The induction ceremony took place during the academy’s annual general meeting and symposium held in Montreal‘s Delta Centre-Ville hotel.

The induction recognizes Maher’s  leading work in the area of developing risk and reliability methods for the design and integrity management of pipelines.
