On June 2, 2016, C-FER’s Brian Wagg presented at the Pipeline Safety Seminar in Daegu, Korea to over 400 industry leaders. During the presentation, Mr. Wagg provided insights on integrity management including:

  • Requirements for developing an effective integrity management plan
  • Criteria for assessing plan effectiveness
  • Hazards that impact integrity
  • Objectives for establishing baseline assessments
  • Data required to develop detailed risk assessments
  • Process for assessing defects

Mr. Cam Matthews, C-FER’s Fellow, will present “A Study of Sealability Evaluation Criteria for Casing Connections in Thermal Wells.”  He will present the results from an experimental metal-to-metal seal investigation and describes their use to establish a simplified sealability criterion for premium casing connections.  The test results were used to characterize the relationship that existed between the leakage rates recorded in the tests and the selected control variables:...

On September 9-10, 2015, the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), partnering with the National Association of Pipeline Safety Representatives (NAPSR), held a public workshop to discuss risk modeling methodologies for gas transmission and hazardous liquid pipelines and non-pipeline systems. The 2015 SIMULIA Community Conference was held in Berlin Germany, on May 19-21. The conference attracted more than 430 attendees and 95 technical papers from various industries, such as Energy, Aerospace & Defense, Transportation & Mobility, Engineering & Construction, and Life Science.

Dr. Jueren Xie presented two papers at the conference: “Use of FEA and Radial Basis Functions for Reliability-based Design and Assessment of Tubular Connection Sealability” and “Finite Element Analysis for Post Cracking Design of Thermal Well Cements”.
