2015 SIMULIA Community Conference was held in Berlin Germany, on May 19-21

The 2015 SIMULIA Community Conference was held in Berlin Germany, on May 19-21. The conference attracted more than 430 attendees and 95 technical papers from various industries, such as Energy, Aerospace & Defense, Transportation & Mobility, Engineering & Construction, and Life Science.

Dr. Jueren Xie presented two papers at the conference: “Use of FEA and Radial Basis Functions for Reliability-based Design and Assessment of Tubular Connection Sealability” and “Finite Element Analysis for Post Cracking Design of Thermal Well Cements”.

JIP to evaluate aerial-based pipeline safety technologies

C-FER is proud to partner with industry in the research and evaluation of aerial technolgies for pipeline leak detection.

The Joint Industry Project was launched in December 2014 to evaluate the effectiveness of pipeline leak detection technologies conveyed on airborne platforms to detect subsurface releases of liquid hydrocarbons. This project will include a variety of activities including modelling, lab and field testing. Vendors participating in these tests obtain key information to develop products more successful at detecting liquid hydrocarbon releases.

A forum where experience and knowledge related to the installation and operation of all-metal PCP systems in thermal applications could be openly exchanged

On March 30th, C-FER Technologies hosted a PCP Thermal Workshop in Calgary, Alberta on behalf of the PCP Run-Life Improvement Joint Industry Project. The objective of the PCP Thermal Workshop was to provide a forum where experience and knowledge related to the installation and operation of all-metal PCP systems in thermal applications could be openly exchanged among attendees.

Minister Fawcett tours the C-FER Technologies research laboratory

EDMONTON (March 13, 2015) – Kyle Fawcett (Minister of Environment and Sustainable Resource Development) and Don Scott (Minister of Innovation and Advanced Education) were at C-FER on Friday to announce the Alberta’s plan for reducing the amount of tailings that accumulate during oil sands mine operation. The announcement also included a water management framework that aims to reduce the amount of water withdrawn from the Athabasca River for oil sands operations.
