Learn about our corporate culture

What's life like at C-FER? We've captured some of what we offer to employees below:

Professional Development

Opportunities include Informal mentorship; an Educational Assistance Program; External Training and Competency Building; In-House Training; Memberships and Professional Designations; and Lunch and Learns.

Rewards and Recognition

C-FER acknowledges the contributions of employees though a Recognition Award Program.

Social Committee

At C-FER, we not only work hard, but we play hard too. We have a very active Social Committee consisting of ~15 employees who organize various paid social gatherings/events through the year.

Safety

C-FER is committed to the continuous development of a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Management System so that we may protect all personnel, our property, the public and the environment from the risks associated with our work activities.  Our goal is to maintain an injury free workplace and continuously reduce the risk of injury and loss in the workplace.

C‑FER's HSE Management System is reviewed externally annually as part of the Alberta Certificate of Recognition program.

Health & Wellness

C-FER is also a member of the City of Edmonton Corporate Wellness Program, which entitles all C‑FER employees to discounts at City of Edmonton fitness facilities. Additionally, C-FER also subsidizes employee-formed sports teams such as hockey, curling, badminton, etc.

Community Involvement:

Supporting our community is an important part of the C-FER culture. We strongly support the United Way and each year we hold an annual fund raising campaign. Part of the campaign is participation in the Engineering Challenge Day of Caring where 2 or 3 C-FER employees will go off-site to assist in a building project organized through the United Way. C-FER provides a donation of the employees’ paid time as well as materials used in the construction as part of its annual corporate donation.

Other community involvement includes:

  1. Annual sponsorship of the University of Alberta Formula SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) Team, which has been ongoing since 2011.
  2. HR encourages department team building events at C‑FER to promote and give back to the community. Some examples are: building houses for Habitat for Humanity, and wrapping presents for Santa’s Anonymous.
  3. C‑FER supports the Canadian Blood Services Partners for Life Program by encouraging our employees to pledge a certain amount of units of blood in the calendar year. This include arranging for transportation for employees interested in donating.
