The Industry Challenge:
Operators are often approached by vendors with new and improved tool designs that are designed to address specific needs for new challenging applications. This can include tools for drilling, logging and stimulation.
The combination of extreme load, pressure, flow and temperature and environmental conditions that the tool must operate in can affect the tool performance in ways that are difficult to predict.
Therefore, it is critical for the operator to confirm the performance of the tool under their specific operating conditions and, often, to determine the functional limits of the tool so that safe operating procedures can be developed.
How We Help:
C-FER works with tool vendors to develop custom testing systems to simulate various aspects of the operating environment.
C-FER’s Technologists and Engineers will work alongside the tool vendor to understand the tool operation and how to accurately simulate the operating environment. This can include:
- proof loading critical load carrying components;
- evaluating the environmental compatibility of sealing elements,
- repeated functional testing of critical components over a range of operating conditions; and
- simulating tool deployment and recovery operations.
