Reliability Based Design & Assessment

Reliability based design and assessment methods are used to make design and operational decisions that meet specified target reliability levels.

C-FER has pioneered the development of a reliability based design and assessment methodology for pipelines. A comprehensive set of guidelines for applying this methodology to natural gas pipelines has been published and plans are underway to develop similar guidelines for liquid pipelines. The methodology has been included in the 2007 edition of CSA Z662 standard and is being considered for inclusion in ASME B31.8.
