ICD Characterization Loop

SAGD operators are challenged with reducing their steam-oil ratio by managing the distribution of steam and inflow of fluids along their wellbores. One method of accomplishing this involves the use of Flow Control Devices (or “FCDs”), including Outflow Control Devices (or “OCDs”) to regulate the injection of high quality steam from the injector well into the reservoir, and Inflow Control Devices (or “ICDs”) to regulate the inflow of oil and water (and possibly some low quality steam) from the reservoir into the producer well.

C-FER designed and constructed the “ICD Characterization Loop” to investigate how various devices performed under these challenging operating conditions.
